India To Celebrate Eid on Thursday except Kerala

All the states of India will be celebrating Eid al Fitr on Thursday except Kerala who will be celebrating Eid on Wednesday along with Saudi Arabia.

The moon was not sighted on Tuesday and hence the month of Ramadan will be full 30 days this year.

Saudi Arabia and many parts of the world will be celebrating Eid al Fitr on Wednesday. Even neighbouring country Pakistan will be celebrating on Wednesday.

Eid al Fitr is a day of thanking for completing the fast of  Ramadan.

Best Eid al Fitr Greeting Taqabal Allahu minni/a wa minka/(um)

The Best Greetings For Eid al Fitr is obviously the one that has been used by the salaf. And it has been reported from the salaf  that they used to use the following greeting

‘Taqabal Allahu minna wa minkum‘ (may Allah accept it from you and us)

If it is singular, one should say

‘Taqabal Allahu minni wa minka‘ (may Allah accept it from you and us)

Opinion of Shaykh ul Islam on the Eid Greeting ‘Taqabal Allahu minna wa minkum‘ (may Allah accept it from you and us)

Responding to a question in this regard, Shaykh ul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullah)said:

“As for people greeting each other after the eid prayer by, ‘Taqabal Allahu minna wa minkum‘ (may Allah accept it from you and us) – it is reported that some of the shahabah practiced it, and the scholars permitted it. However, Ahmad said, ‘I do not initiate saying it to anyone; but if one says it to me, I answer him. This is because responding to a greeting is obligatory, but to initiate the greeting is not a required sunnah, neither is it prohibited: whoever does it it would have an example (from the salaf) and whoever does not would have a predecessor as well.”

[Majmoo al-Fataawaa (24/253)]

Evidence of the Greeting being used by the companions

Al-Haafidh Ibn Hajr Al-Asqalani (rahimahullah) said:

“We have related in “Mahaamiliyaat” with a chain of narration that is hasan, from Jabyr ibn Nufayr who said: ‘When the companions of Allah’s Messenger (sallallahu alaihi wa salaam) met on the day of ‘eid, they would say to each other, ‘Taqabbal Allahu minna wa minkum (may Allah accept from you and us ).”

[Al Mahamiliyyat; hasan isnad; see Fath ul Bari 2:446]

There is no Fasting on the day of Eid

Q: What is the ruling on someone who fasts on ‘Eid day, despite knowing that it is ‘Eid day?
It is not permissible to fast on ‘Eid day, based on the Sahih (authentic) Hadiths reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him) that forbid observing Sawm (Fasting) on the days of ‘Eid-ul-Fitr (the Festival of Breaking the Fast) and ‘Eid-ul-Adha (the Festival of the Sacrifice). Muslim scholars have agreed by Ijma‘ (consensus) on the prohibition of this, and it is incumbent upon anyone who does that to make Tawbah (repentance to Allah, may He be Exalted), and never to do it again.
MayAllah grant us success! May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions!

My Allah grant us success! May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions!

There is no Salah in the Eidgah

Q: A questioner from Riyadh writes that he has noticed that when some people come to offer the ‘Eid Prayer, they offer two Rak’ahs (units of Prayer) while others do not, and some others start reciting the Takbir (“Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illa Allah, Allahu Akbar wa Lillahi’l-hamd [Allah is the Greatest! Allah is the Greatest! There is no deity but Allah! Allah is the Greatest and to Allah is all praise!]”).

The Sunnah (action following the example of the Prophet) for one who comes to the ‘Eid Musalla to offer Salat-ul-‘Eid (the Festival Prayer) or Salat-ul-Istisqa’ (Prayer for rain), is to sit down and not offer Tahiyyat-ul-Masjid (two-unit-Prayer to greet the mosque). It is not reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) or his Sahabah (Companions of the Prophet) did this, as far as we know. However, if the Salah (Prayer) is held inside a Masjid, then one should offer Tahiyyat-ul-Masjid, because of the general applicability of the Hadith of the Prophet (peace be upon him): When anyone of you enters the Masjid, let them not sit down until they have prayed two Rak’ahs. (Agreed upon by Imams Al-Bukhari and Muslim)Please explain the Islamic rulings on these matters. Is there any difference between holding the ‘Eid Prayer in the Masjid (mosque) or in the ‘Eid Musalla (place for Prayer)?

It is prescribed for those who sit awaiting the ‘Eid Prayer to continuously recite Tahlil (saying: “La ilaha illa Allah [There is no god except Allah]”) and Takbir (saying: “Allahu Akbar [Allah is the Greatest]”), because these expressions of praise are the motto of this day, and this is the Sunnah for everyone inside or outside the Masjid, until the Khutbah (sermon) is over. If one busies himself with reading Qur’an, this is also commendable. May Allah grant us success!

United States To Celebrate Eid on Wednesday, 6th July

Eid Mubarak United States 6th July

In the United States , it has been confirmed that Eid would fall on July 6, 2016.

According to Islamic customs, every month begins with moon sighting. It may cause a variation of the date for Islamic holidays, as the moon sighting begins at sundown the day before the date specified for the holiday.

The Islamic calendar is lunar and the days begin at sunset, so there may be one-day error depending on when the New Moon is first seen.

Eid is the day of celebrations for the Muslim after the month of Ramadan, the month of fasting.

Saudi, Qatar and UAE To Celebarate Eid on Wednesday

Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE have announced that Eid al-Fitr in these countries will be celebrated on July 6, making Tuesday the last day of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.

Authorities made the announcement on Monday evening after failing to sight the moon that marks the start of the three-day festival.

Eid al-Fitr starts when the new moon is spotted in the sky, making the Eid holiday different around the world. The celebrations begin when the fasting month of Ramadan ends and the following month of Shawwal begins.

Many Muslim-majority countries celebrate the end of Ramadan by granting public holidays.

This year, public sector workers in Saudi will enjoy 11 days off. Meanwhile, public sector workers in Qatar and the UAE will get nine days off, including weekends, while their counterparts in Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman, the other member states that make up the Gulf Cooperation Council, will get five days.

Employees in the private sector commonly have fewer days off.

During Ramadan, Muslims abstain from food, drinks and sexual intercourse from dawn to dusk, which is an exercise in self-restraint, intended to bring the faithful closer to God.

When does Ramadan End? When is Eid in UAE, USA, India ?

When is the end of Ramadan ?

Ramadan in this year ie 2016 is predicted to be of 29 days and
hence in most countries like UAE, Saudi Arabia and other countries
which follows them will be ending their ramadan on 4th July, 2016.
In countries like India, Pakistan which has began observing Ramadan
a day later than most of the countries will be ending their Ramadan
on 5th July,2016.

As Eid ul fitr dates will be confirmed, I will be updating that here.

When is Eid ul Fitr ?

As the month of Ramadan is reaching its end people are more curious
to know when is the last day of Ramadan and looking forward to the
Eid ul fitr celebrations.

Eid ul fitr is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, the tenth month
of the Islamic calendar.

This year, it is predicted that the moon for eid will be sighted
on 4th July in most of the countries while in other countries like
India, Pakistan etc it will be 5th July.

Thus Muslims in most parts of the World will celebrate Eid ul fitr
on 5th july and other countries will follow on 6th July, 2016.

Eid ul fitr is a day of thanksgiving for being able to complete the
days of fasting and doing worship as prescribed by Allah.
Thus the celebration begins by praying 2 rakah of salah to thank
Allah for granting the ability to complete the rituals and on accepting

Men, Women and children all pray in the open spaces and grounds
early in the morning by putting on their best clothes.

Sunnah for the day of Eid :

1. Giving sadqat ul fitr to the poor as charity before heading
for the Eid salah.
2. Having Ghusl
3. Having dates or sweets before heading to the Eidgah
4. Going by one road and coming by another
5. Putting on Perfume and best clothes

Sunnah Eid Greetings

The companions of the Prophet used to greet each other by the following

Taqaballalahu minni wa minka

Ramadan – Does the sins also get multiplied in this month ?

What is prescribed for the Muslim in Ramadaan and at other times is to strive hard against his self that is inclined towards evil, so that it will become at peace and inclined towards good. He must strive against the enemy of Allaah, Iblees, so that he will be safe from his evil and his traps. In this world the Muslim is engaged in a mighty, ongoing struggle against himself, his whims and desires, and the shaytaan. He must repent a great deal and pray for forgiveness at all times, but times vary one from another.

The month of Ramadaan is the best month of the year, for it is a month of forgiveness, mercy and ransom from Hell. If the month is good and the place is good, then good deeds will be multiplied and the sin incurred by bad deeds will be greater. Sin in Ramadaan is worse than sin at any other time, just as an act of worship in Ramadaan brings a greater reward from Allaah than an act of worship at any other time. As Ramadaan has such a high status, worship at that time is of great virtue and is multiplied greatly, and the sin at that time is worse than sin at any other time.

The Muslim must make the most of this blessed month by doing righteous deeds and giving up evil deeds, so that Allaah may bless him with acceptance and help him to remain steadfast in adhering to the truth. But bad deeds always remain the same and are not multiplied in number either in Ramadaan or at other times. As for good deeds, they are multiplied by ten times or more, because Allaah says in Soorat al-An’aam (interpretation of the meaning): “Whoever brings a good deed (Islamic Monotheism and deeds of obedience to Allaah and His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم) shall have ten times the like thereof to his credit, and whoever brings an evil deed (polytheism, disbelief, hypocrisy, and deeds of disobedience to Allaah and His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم) shall have only the recompense of the like thereof, and they will not be wronged” [al-An’aam 6:160]. And there are many similar verses.

Similarly, in special places such as the two Holy Sanctuaries (in Makkah and Madeenah), good deeds are greatly multiplied in terms of quantity and degree, but bad deeds are not multiplied in terms of quantity, but they may be more serious at a special time and in a special place, as indicated above. End quote.
